Hey hey, I think he is uh, now that he tried once before but he turned in at like 901 so.
Hey everybody, hate Catherine Hey Emily, Hey George, hey um, so one thing really quick I the reason why I jumped on Jordan is on on my screen and again I know it's not always the same. The the slide that has you know Andre St Mary's the Dome in the crossing acres that slide for me right now is covering the upper half of like where catherines um boxes.
George, can you hear Maine?
Have you thought about just doing that from Tehran's office? It's just a lot more attractive of a background.
Are you wired in George or are you?
Are you wired in Georgia on Wi-Fi?
George grit your camera so that it gets less of the Whiteboard.
Less of the whiteboard the other way.
But more no. Now the other way, a little bit.
My ear and everybody can come. I'll be cutting out in a second, but can peoples for me the slide that says Holy Cross live will begin soon as blocking part of the UM, this the People's faces are a little bit is that does everyone else. Does the slide look normal?
OK, that's just me then OK?

Hello from Lansing Michigan.
The 46556, which is a zip code assigned to Notre Dame, Indiana, where three Catholic colleges share a history emission hand. A piece of land. Those colleges are of course Holy Cross College, St Mary's College and the University of Notre Dame.

Hello from South Bend
In 1842, the University of Notre Dame was founded by a Holy Cross priest and the band of Holy Cross brothers. Soon thereafter, the Sisters of the Holy Cross founded St Mary's College, then the brothers of the congregation of Holy Cross served as the earliest teachers, mentors and even farmers at the University of Notre Dame.
In 1966 they took a piece of land directly across the street from Notre Dame to found Holy Cross College. It was then that the try campus of Notre Dame was established with three distinct institutions, but all sharing again a common history, a common founding in the congregation of Holy Cross, and a common mission to educate the minds and hearts of young men and women in the Catholic tradition.

Hello from Coral Springs, Florida
Today, students at Holy Cross College enjoy the proximity in collaboration with our neighbors to nourish their academic, social and spiritual growth. Students at Holy Cross enroll in courses across the Tri Campus. Join clubs like the marching band study at the Hessberg Library, attend athletic games and so much more. But to go into those fun details we do have some great hosts and panelists were going to tell you more tonight, so now I would like our hosts for the evening.
To join Maine, they're going to take over for the broadcast. After giving some introduction and then like normal, I'll come back at the end of the broadcast.
But also to announce some winners for a gift card. So again, if you are tuned in and watching right now, you have a chance being one of our winners of a $50 digital gift card will be announcing those at the very end. So do stick around. But now I'm going to turn it over. We have Emily, David and George Sutherland. Hey, how you guys doing tonight?
How you doing Emily great?
Yes, so I know we have an exciting broadcast. A lot of great information to talk about how Holy Cross students find their place in the Tri Campus. Finding a home on our campus? But then really expanding themselves in many different ways. Interest in activities directly across the street and next door at Saint Mary's. So I'm going to check out and I'll be in the moderating. Maybe answering some questions in the chat, but I will see you guys at the end of the broadcast.

Hello From Amarillo, Texas
Hi everyone, my name is Riley Horn. I made junior at Holy Cross College right now but I will be graduating early in December so I'm actually involved in a lot at Holy Cross. I'm a college athlete. I play soccer there. I'm also the student body vice president right now and I will be talking about the applied entrepreneurship program that I'm also involved in later on.
Ashley M.
09:08:59 PM
Hi Rylee!
Oh here we go. So I graduated 2018 uh, with the business major. I'm from Lewisville, TX. I did a lot of things, not just a Holy Cross but at Notre Dame as well. I've taken actually some classes Saint Mary. I'm glad to talk with you guys and beyond this panel.

09:11:09 PM
hello from Allen, TX
I'm I was just saying that there are many ways that you can get involved at Notre Dame in the way of academics. Also just out of the classroom experiences and so. Firstly, for questions, had the privilege of getting to take one class at Notre Dame into each semester at no extra tuition costs. Once we have 30 credits and a 3.0 GPA, and so that's a really great opportunity to get kind of different learning experience. Learning environment part from the small close knit environment at.
Aaron K.
09:11:28 PM
Hello all!
Holy Cross and also, um, sporting your first year. You can take classes at Saint Mary's free of charge as well. That one class each semester. And then we also have some really cool partnerships with the Graduate School at motoring. We have several students who are interested in going into business. One year business Masters degrees and Master of Science in management and Master of Science in business Analytics. There's also a data plan graduate program at Saint Mary's as well as a programmer.
Autism study and then we also know Notre Dame has a lot of great event like a career fair twice a year. That's something I got involved in or when append in when I was a first year student at Holy Cross and the idea center is a really great program, not Riley. I know it's going to talk more about and then also study abroad. Notre Dame has some excellent study abroad programs during the summer at Holy Cross. Students are most welcome to apply for and these programs are all over the world between three and eight week immersions.
Getting college credit and living living in another country and so that's a little bit of an overview of some of the academic highlights or ways you can enrich your mind at noon with holy crap. Dude, it.
Do you want me to jump in first?
Terron Phillips
09:12:48 PM
Quick reminder - if you are experiencing visual or audio issues, please try refreshing your browser.
So really, if you want to go ahead and talk about your experience like the idea center.
Yes, you can hear me right?
OK, Um Hi guys, it's Riley again so I'm going to be talking about one of my favorite opportunities that I've gotten at Holy Cross. And it's actually a part of the Tri Campus and the community of South Bend, so I'm in a program called the applied entrepreneurship program through a nonprofit called rise and kind of what we do there is. I've had the ability to create my own business out of this program as a 20 year old in college, which is just so crazy. But this program is directly related with the idea center at Notre Dame.
So this is like a place where students can study. It's got a bunch of 3D printers and lasers that students have access to for free. It's a really awesome space, especially for those of you who want to be entrepreneurs. Lastly, there's also this thing called idea week which is supposed to be this week, but unfortunately due to all the COVID-19 that's been going on, it kinda had to be moved to on line this year. But that is like a huge week where people like me get to do.
Business pitches at the University of Notre Dame. I also had the opportunity to be in a pitch competition, call McCloskey through the University of Notre Dame.
Fortunately, all of that did happen. It just happened virtually this time and then, uh, rise, which is who my program is through is also having a live event on May 14th. If you guys would want to check, check that out. But yeah, for entrepreneurs this stuff is great. I never thought I wanted to be one, but I got access to all this really cool stuff and this really awesome opportunity that you guys all can be apart of as well so.
I am muted. Uhm, I'm gonna ask um if cats we can just share just a little bit. She's going to talk a little bit more about this later, but I just wanted to get this pitch in here too. 'cause it relates to this area as well. About your classes you've taken on Notre Dame.
Awesome thanks so much. Catherine Uhm, so the next part I just wanted to touch on is the are the different RTC programs that were in partnership with Notre Dame. So we do have the four branches, the Army Air Force, Navy in the Marines you can get in ROTC scholarship in its valid at Holy Cross and you can do your work commitments and still Commission on time and everything. And that's with army and we just started with the Navy this year.
That's really big for us, um, and then, um. So Lastly is the career fair that we do here and the career fair is we do one at Holy Cross and we also partner with Notre Dame in Saint Mary's Annes work together to go to their different career fairs. So like traditional college, you really only have the opportunity to go to like your soul institutional career fair. But here since we're like the try campus and like we're all in the fight together we.
Are like willing to work together and everyone kind of goes through each other's career fairs and you're able to meet with a lot of potential employers.
So now to transition to the second portion of the night is the body so kind of the social aspect of the Tri Campus community and kind of just the different opportunities that you'll be able to have here. Whether it's plain or being able to go watch Notre Dame football be on the yoga club at Notre Dame or Saint Mary's or go to the one Republic concert that would have happened at Notre Dame this year, or The Chainsmokers when I was a student here.
Um, maybe it's being on Notre Dame's band. There's just so many extracurricular activities that you can do here, and it's not just at Holy Cross, you could go to Notre Dame and do you know the band and all those different ones? So it's really a unique experience that we have here.
Um, that were able to, you know, be in clubs at different colleges and institutions. I don't think you really find that anywhere else in the country where you have the ability to walk over to another campus in feel. Apart of that campus, as well as being on this campus and having students come here and work with us, we held the Saint Mary's dance marathon for two years in the file center at Holy Cross. While there, Jim was getting renovated, and I mean just another one of the.
Like just super cool, um, ways that like Holy Cross is able to.
Michael Griffin
09:19:41 PM
Hello everybody: feel free to put here any questions you have as we head toward the q and a portion.
Just be a part of the Tri Campus community. And yeah, it's pretty awesome. So someone who knows a lot about working in the Tri Campus community and just doing a variety of things, whether it was Irish marching band and ESP pilgrimages, student government, I'm going to ask Marco Medina if he could share a little bit about his experience in the track campus community.
Yeah, so I had the opportunity to do quite a few different things. One of 'em was I was in the bagpipe band for a couple years.
Yanni V.
09:20:08 PM
Can you talk about how the NROTC Prep Program functions?
Sherline O.
09:20:29 PM
What are some leadership clubs?
Be good, it's on the web for ND football games. They help bring the team into the stadium from their buses. So that was a cool experience. One of my favorite experiences was with Notre Dame Police Department, so I ended up doing kind of like a small internship with them during the summer and I got an opportunity to go behind the scenes during one of the games and be kind of like the top where all the head honchos are.
Chris M.
09:20:47 PM
Is theatre something shared between campuses? Can you audition for shows at any campus?
And got an all access pass like it was able to see their little everything underground as well as everything up on top and being able to see it from a totally different angle. So that was as a really cool experience and then just at Saint Mary's they got a lot of different things going on. You could go over there for all there like they have a lot of festival is you can go to their festivals and then.
Notre Dame's always got something going on as well.
Yeah, and just talk a little bit more about the different.
Selena P.
09:21:22 PM
What has been your favorite thing about attending Holy Cross?
Charlie H.
09:21:26 PM
How does the welcome weekend work with band camp taking place across the street?
Gabriela B.
09:21:35 PM
How easy/hard is it to start a club??
Like socials and things that happen um during orientation week, one of the big things that happens are all three campuses will have, like you know, an opening ceremonies type of thing. An all three campuses work together on helping the freshman to come together and Omar fest at Notre Dame welcomes all the same errors in Holy Cross students there and then, we've traditionally had fireworks that weekend as well. And then St Mary's normally has an event or a couple events that week.
Two, and it's it's really unique experience 'cause you're able to go to all these different events that are planned to be on separate days so they're not conflicting, so it's a pretty awesome and unique experience.
Um and next I just want to have Riley if she can share a little bit uhm, I know. She said earlier that she was a part of the student government on campus and I know a lot of the perspective freshmen are probably interested in joining student government and helping out in that aspect. So really good kind of share just.
What the student government does with like that right? Campus, community and maybe highlight a committee or two on that.
Riley, can you talk about the, UM, your involvement with student government?
Yeah, sorry I can't hear George at also, um.
Uhm, so yeah, right now I am the student body vice president of our student government at Holy Cross, something that's been unique to this year's.
President and vice president is that we also first name got to meet with Notre Dame in Saint Mary's president and vice president, which is something they haven't really done in the past. So basically we had like a meeting once a month or so to kind of just kind of formulate different ideas with each other and learn how what events each school has coming up and learn how to back them up. So like Notre Dame has back the band and they have take back the night and then FTK for the kids dance marathon. These are.
Like huge events, that kind of go along all three campuses, but I think my favorite part about this was on. I gotta be kinda close with the Notre Dame and Saint Mary's SG A's and one of the we can't. We got to present the flag at the Notre Dame versus Navy football game altogether, which is a really cool experience that I never thought I would be able to do. So that was something that was really cool that everyone kind of got to see the try campuses.
Catherine Swick
09:23:42 PM
I'm in a Catholic Novel class right now that is AWESOME - definitely a favorite English course
Student governments come together to do that. Another thing I think George wanted me to talk about was legends nightclub.
Emily Rauch
09:23:55 PM
Very easy to start a club at Holy Cross
Jack S.
09:24:18 PM
Does Holy Cross have a cross country team?
Catherine Swick
09:24:19 PM
there are theatre opportunities both at st marys and ND that are open to all students on the tri campus. its very easy to get involved with/audition
So legends is on half restaurant, half nightclub as Holy Cross. St Mary's Annes, Notre Dame students. You're able to go into that night club for free with your ID. So basically they have different theme nights. I can know there's a salsas night every month, which is basically like they only play Spanish music and it's a lot of fun. They have a hip hop night and they also put on a lot of free concerts from pretty famous people like I know love was there a GR was there. I saw Max Snyder and those are all free which is just like.
Valeria A.
09:24:20 PM
Are there any clubs that combine/celebrate different ethnicities?
Liz/Lizzy S.
09:24:31 PM
What's been your favorite English class you've taken, Catherine?
Crazy, it's really fun. I suggest going there. I'm especially as either a freshman or transfer just because that's a really good way to meet people from the Tri Campus. And it's a whole lot of fun too.
Thank you Riley. I'm the next segment that we're going to go into is, uh.
Um, the spirit portion of the night and so that is I'm going to hand that over to Emily and she's going to give you a little bit of Brief History and a little intro on that.
So Notre Dame play crossing St Mary's are very, very special place to be when it comes to one spirit and spiritual development and growth.
Both at Holy Cross in Notre Dame Campus Ministry is very robust. There are many opportunities throughout the day, almost every hour of the day to to engage in your faith, particularly through Catholic masses that are the different dorms and buildings at Notre Dame as well as it twice a day. There is mass at Holy Cross, an campus ministry by just thinking of different programs through campus management. Notre Dame. There are several retreats and pilgrimage opportunities, likewise at Holy Cross.
And there is eucharistic adoration called exalt praise and worship. Moments is prayer. Once a month in the different dorms at Notre Dame, and it's of course welcome or all students in the campus are welcome to attend and and there are also some. Notre Dame has a really cool summer program for high schools for highschoolers. It's a Catholic conference and Holy Cross students are most welcome to be mentors for the Notre Dame.
Selena P.
09:26:29 PM
With the band camp occurring how does it affect the class schedule of a band student?
Vision program an I know cat was it was a mentor for vision and so she can talk more about that in a moment and then also at Holy Cross. We have what's called Saints and scholars which is similar to vision but more academic and students are also encouraged to to get involved with that as leaders as well. And then we also have at Notre Dame. There is what's called the Center for social concerns and this is a really great organization to get involved with if you're interested in service opportunities in the South Bend community.
Connor K.
09:26:41 PM
Any sports?
Rylee Horn
09:27:12 PM
Holy Cross has four sports for both men and women: Soccer, basketball, tennis, and golf
Or all over the US and also internationally. Once you have 30 academic credits as a Holy Cross student, you can partake in service immersions over fall break and spring break through the Center for social concerns and get one academic credit for that. There's also a really awesome summer program called this summer service learning program where you will spend 8 weeks over the summer and somewhere in the US, living with and working with vulnerable populations so that could be at a homeless shelter that could be working.
Jordan Schank
09:27:31 PM
Many club sports at Notre Dame are open to Holy Cross students.
Out of camp for at risk. Children working with people with disabilities and you're also living with living and working with another Notre Dame student or Holy Cross for Saint Mary student and getting a 3 academic credits for that as well. So there are lots of ways to get involved spiritually on all three campuses, and I think I'm going to talk about Notre Dame vision here.
Terron Phillips
09:28:50 PM
Selena, great questions! Band camp will happen before classes begin. Daily rehearsals are all schedule after classes have concluded for the day.
Emily Rauch
09:30:07 PM
Holy Cross also has great intermural sports! Flag football and basketball are a lot of fun
No, I really Marco. Could you talk about your parents in the SLP as well as believe you attended a pilgrimage with campus ministry, correct?
Marco Marco, could you share your experience about SSL P and various pilgrimages that you went on while at Holy Cross?
Emily Rauch
09:31:03 PM
Also Bookstore Basketball at Notre Dame
Yes, yeah, so that's one of the coolest parts about the whole try. Campus community is that you're able to do a lot of extra curricular stuff. One of 'em was this summer service learning placement and what it is is you get you take 3 classes together as a whole big group and then you get sent to your assignments for eight weeks. So my assignment was in Birmingham, AL. I worked with the church over there and they pay for the whole thing during that time were doing reflections. You're also learning about their programs.
'cause you're being sent to the marginalized, like very, very marginalized.
Audri T.
09:31:37 PM
My friend, a freshman at Holy Cross, is in the Gateway Program. How does that process work?
Depending on where you go, you might end up living with a religious life, or you might be. I lived with host families, so they had three host families, so that was a cool experience as well.
Gabi H.
09:31:52 PM
Can Emily explain Gateway. Is it by invitation? By application?
And then another thing is through their social concerns, they have, um, pilgrimages. So the biggest one that I went on was too.
True, or is it Saint Joseph Oratore in Canada? So we got to see I think probably 7 or 8 different churches including Saint Joseph Oratore, which was really really cool. So just being able to join in with Saint Mary's and Notre Dame and Holy Cross students was all a great experience.
Emily Rauch
09:32:29 PM
The Gateway Program is by invitation from Notre Dame
Awesome thank you Marco. And then also I just want to mention before we I hand it back over to Jordan that there's a lot of different programs at the Tri Campus community. Does they have different masses at the dorms like milkshake mass and they also do?
They serve milkshakes after mass. Just to clarify on that and then also they do something called exalt adoration where they bring in a guest speaker that father Mike Schmitz a couple months ago who came in and spoke and then they do adoration and confession and do some prayer and music. And then right after that they also have like a reception area where students can kind of come together and talk about the various experiences that they've had. So that's just a really kind of a cool.
Um, like pillar to the Catholic community, I think, along with campus mission that's put on by Notre Dame Campus Ministry in it rotates around. So without further ado, I'm going to ask Jordan to come back on. I think he is a couple pieces to share. I just want to say thank you to all of our panelists. Thank you to Emily. She's been a huge help with helping me on doing all of this.
Yeah, so thank you so much and if there is also if you guys have any questions feel free to drop him and will.
Well will still be here. Jordans Gonna come on for the gift cards and such but if your questions uhm and you want to ask a panelist or something just put those questions and we can have the panelists talk about those. So thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you George and Emily. Emily. Can you, um, is my microphone on? Can you hear Maine?
Emily Rauch
09:34:14 PM
Valeria, yes! There are great multicultural clubs and events on all three campuses
Wonderful great um. So uhm yeah, if you uhm still have questions or if we didn't get to your question there in the feed if you drop it in the next like 2 minutes what we're going to do is of course have our admissions counselors go back and send emails responses. So we do want to make sure that every question is answered, but we are so grateful for our panelists and our host tonight sharing their experiences at Holy Cross College and across the Tri campus.
Autumn R.
09:34:44 PM
Can you talk a little more about ROTC?
Gabi H.
09:34:51 PM
How possible is it to transfer to Notre Dame if you have no invitation?
As well, and I hope that you learn tonight, um, especially if you've been tuning into previous episodes of Holy Cross, is that you really get the best of many worlds when you're a student at Holy Cross College, we talked many times in previous episodes about the sense of community, the friendships, the family sets that you receive on our campus, no classroom larger than 30 students. That average class size is only 14.
Selena P.
09:35:26 PM
Can I get more info about the band and how it will work?
There's some good relationships and bonding that happens in the classroom and a lot of attention that you get from your professors at Holy Cross. So we have that very small liberal arts campus college family like community based, but then within walking distance directly across the street or next door you can be at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, taking part in all of these amazing opportunities. Truly, the opportunities are endless with whatever club or
Michael Griffin
09:35:49 PM
We have many students in a variety of programs who transfer to Notre Dame. We also have agreements with priority preference for Holy Cross students to go directly into Graduate Programs at Notre Dame and Saint Mary's too.
Interest or passion or music or singing or theater or sports. We can help find those paths and more and more which has been really exciting for us. Our collaborations have been building with academic programs across the campus is allowing students to dual enroll beginning Masters programs during your senior year at Saint Mary's College for men and women. Or maybe having preferred placement in graduate programs at the University of Notre Dame, some within the Mendoza College of business and the College of Arts and letters.
Jenni D.
09:36:26 PM
Selena you can go to www.ndband.com
Terron Phillips
09:36:28 PM
Selena, I'll send you an email and we can chat about how HC students have made participating in the ND Band work.
For example, so truly their opportunities at the Tri Campus are limitless. So tonight is our last planned Holy Cross live but it definitely isn't going to be the last time that you see or hear of us for the spring or even this summer. We might pop back in for another event before the May one that national confirmation deadline. We look forward to helping answer any questions that you have between now and then.
Annabelle R.

Can I be emailed more information about diversity/POC clubs and organizations at all campuses?
So that if Holy Cross is the right place for you, we can help you make that happen also over the coming months. We would like to help you get to know your future classmates, meaning the other incoming students who will be joining us in the freshman or first year class. Typically summer orientation held in June are wonderful opportunity to make new friends and to find others who might have similar interests to really have some people you know before you get to campus in August. So we're looking at some ways to.

Autumn, absolutely!
Uh, build some community, help you make friends by maybe doing some a little team building in some web and R type formats like this, but where you get to be the star? Of course an have your audio and video and make some new friends, perhaps from across the country before you all just send a pawn South Bend in Holy Cross in August. So we're looking at some ways to make that happen. So just gotta pay attention to your email. And for those of you who signed up for texting those text message reminders as well.
I do want to say again, we're really excited about the approaching May 1 deadline. It's our confirmation priority confirmation that line so students who submit their confirmation form and pay their deposits on or before may one are going to be right on track for registration for courses, but then if you're living on campus, you're going to be entered into that housing lottery. So if you're submitting those deposits by May 1, you're going to be entered into a lottery where we're going to consider.

Valeria, we do have clubs that celebrate different ethnicities! Latino Unidos is one of our largest student clubs. This club celebrates Latino and Mexican heritage. All are welcome to join in the activities hosted by Latinos Unidos. The club hosts signature events such as Las Posadas, Dia de los Muertos, Pan Dulce and more.
Your preferences for roommate. If you have any, but also your preferences for the dorm that you might want to be on. If you do have those preferences and then by May one we will have the housing application on your Holy Cross applicant portal, but that's not due till July 1, but that will be available soon.

Selena, to answer your earlier question, my favorite thing about attending Holy Cross was the closely-knit community I experienced in the classroom, dining hall, chapel, dorms, and student life. And, as an HC student, I felt I got the best of both worlds- smaller community at HC, bigger community of ND
Andrew Marsciano Carlsbad, CA. Congratulations Andrew and then our final winner for Oliver Holy Cross live events. So congratulations now to Joseph Trinidad Lawrence, MA. So congratulations to our winners. You'll receive an email from Holy Cross admissions with your digital gift card and to all of our families, our future students. An perspective students who have been watching in Tuningen. We've had a lot of fun.
